Regulator to check transactions in Grupa Azoty shares
July 11, 2014
Poland's Treasury asked financial market watchdog KNF to look into the transactions in the shares of listed chemicals group Grupa Azoty, KNF head Andrzej Jakubiak told journalists on Thursday.
"The Treasury Minister asked us if there was any activity on the public market related to the purchases of Azoty shares," Jakubiak said.
KNF should provide official information on the issue in the nearest future, he added.
KNF is checking whether share buyers met all information requirements.
The announcement comes against the background of concerns regarding the possibility of a hostile takeover of Azoty by Russia's Acron. In early June, Azoty said that Acron's unit Norica Holding raised the stake in Azoty to over 20%, up by 2.8 pps.
Poland holds 33% in Grupa Azoty.
