CEE Equity Partners (CEE EP), an investment fund established by the Export-Import Bank of China, plans investing USD 500 million in Poland and CEE in two-three years, mainly in controlling stakes of power, telecom, infrastructure and specialist industry firms, CEE EP investment director Rafal Andrzejewski told reporters on Thursday.
"We currently have USD 500 million raised - this tranche should be invested within two-three years," Andrzejewski said. "Once we use 60% of the pool, we have another USD 1.5 billion promised."
The fund wants to spend between USD 20-75 million on a single investment project, and will be focusing on power, telecom, infrastructure sectors as well as on highly specialized industry, the official said.
The firm will mainly be interested in controlling stakes, but the first transaction may be a purchase of a minority stake in a WSE-listed firm, Andrzejewski said. The deal may be concluded in the coming weeks and may entail participation in a share issue.
