Persona Marylin by Lupa at Dramatyczny Theater
July 21, 2014
The Dramatyczny Theater’s G. Holoubek Stage will show “Persona Marylin”, Krystian Lupa’s production that has been invited to theaters all over the world.
It’s been inspired by a story of a sex icon – Marylin Monroe.
One of the most famous Polish theatre directors, Lupa, shows the life of Monroe, when the spotlight and the cameras are turned off.
Lupa said about the play: “Andy Warhol used to say that the most important theme and the main character of his films at the same time was personality; not a story of a particular human being but human personality in and of itself... however impossible to be expressed fully. Therefore, when a human being becomes an object of interest, it is more convenient to look at them than to talk about them.”
We watch Monroe (played by award-winning Sandra Korzeniak), in her apartment full of stimulants, fears and men. The director himself has called his art "photographic section", which shows one’s inner life with every detail, brutally and without embellishments.
“These are not stories but situations rather, when personality becomes visible and may also be a point of intersection with a particular actor's personality, as actors enter a personal, even intimate adventure with the characters. It is a fantastic and risky experiment of exchange.”
Cast also includes Katarzyna Figura, Piotr Skiba, Władysław Kowalski, Marcin Bosak, Henryk Niebudek, Agnieszka Wosińska
Zbigniew W. Kaleta, Agnieszka Roszkowska, Krzysztof Dracz
Paweł Mi¶kiewicz, Andrzej Szeremeta, Marcin Tyrol
