Poland's ruling party Civic Platform (PO) lost 5 pps in the July poll, and thus lost more distance to chief rival, the conservative opposition party Law & Justice (PiS) to 12 pps, even as support for the latter edged down by 1 ppt, a survey by pollster TNS showed.

The survey comes after the June release of taped recordings of several high-ranking officials, including Internal Affairs Minister Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz apparently sounding out central bank president Marek Belka about chances for the NBP to support the state budget ahead.
