The Polish government decided to call off the Russian year in Poland and the Polish year in Russia, a set of cultural events planned in both countries for 2015.

The decision comes in the wake of Russia's aggression on Ukraine, Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said.

Meetings of artists with audience should unite people and not divide, while currently there are no conditions for dialogue, government spokesperson Malgorzata Kidawa-Blonska said justifying the government's decision.
