Poland plans no tobacco or alcohol excise hike in 2015

Poland plans no tobacco or alcohol products excise hike in 2015, Finance Ministry officials said on Thursday.
"In 2015 excise on tobacco products will remain at the current level," deputy Finance Minister Izabela Leszczyna said in parliament.
"While working on 2015 budget we plan no moves as far as alcohol excise is concerned," deputy Finance Minister Jacek Kapica told reporters.
Poland is supposed to reach the EU tobacco excise minimum at 60% of the average weighted price of cigarettes but no less than EUR 90 per 1,000 cigarettes by 2018.
In 2014 tobacco excise was increased by 5%, expected to yield PLN 345 million in extra budget receipts annually. Excise on ethyl alcohol was increasead by 15% in 2014, expected to yield some PLN 780 million extra receipts.
