Unemployment expected to fall to around 11%

Unemployment in Poland will likely fall to around 11% in the period from July to September, followed by a traditional seasonal spike of 0.5-0.8 pps in the fall, deputy Labor Minister Jacek Mecina said Wednesday.
"The downward trend in the unemployment rate will certainly be maintained," Mecina told Radio PiN. "A level near 11% is realistic" from July to September.
"A seasonal correction will happen in the fall," he added. "Seasonal sectors such as tourism, restaurants, horticulture and agriculture are of major significance for the Polish economy and labor market. That's when the unemployment rate rises on average by 0.5-0.8 pps."
Unemployment in Poland in June stood at 12.0%.
