Polish government to increase military spending - report
August 19, 2014
Polish army will receive an additional pool of PLN 800 million annually for modernization, as the government wants to strengthen the country’s defenses due to situation in Ukraine.
The Polish government may now increase the scale of already planned purchases, such as those of an attack helicopters, it may also accelerate purchases that were planned for a later date, beyond 2022.
The Defense Ministry proposals for new spending are at least partially conflicting with those of President Bronislaw Komorowski, who would prefer more spending on the most modern technologies, such as drones, protection against cyber-attacks or satellite technologies, while the ministry prefers more conventional purchases.
