Poland’s discount spirits empire under construction
August 22, 2014
Two Polish businessmen - Grzegorz Slak and Tomasz Gudzowaty - are building a vodka production and distribution group with a PLN 1 billion turnover and stock exchange debut in mind, the daily Puls Biznesu reports.
Krakus, which is what the firm is called, will be built on the basis of production assets of Akwawit-Polmos and discount vodka shops under the Ojczysta Czysta brand.
After a difficult Q1, when vodka sales in Poland froze following an excise hike, the entrepreneurs are now ready to open 50 such shops, Slak is cited as saying.
The next step in the group development will be launching a network of specialist liquor stores at discount prices.
