Imagination Quartet, a contemporary jazz group consisting of outstanding, young Polish musicians, will give three concerts in China in October.

The Polish group will perform during the 4th OCT-LOFT International Jazz Festival 2014, one of the major Chinese jazz festivals to be held Oct 8-30 in Shenzhen.

Imagination Quartet’s act (on Oct 18) will be the first Polish group appearance in the history of the Shenzen festival and one a very few in China so far.

The group will also perform on Oct 16 in Zhongshan at Sun Live House Club, on Oct. 17 in Guangzhou at Fei Live House Club. The concerts will promote the group's debut album (2011. Anaconda Productions) and will act as harbingers of the forthcoming album to be released at the end of the year.

OCT-LOFT is one of the largest Chinese jazz festivals. This year's edition stars Stefan Micus (Germany), Eddie Gomez Quartet (U.S.A.) Samuel Blaser & Pierre Favre (Switzerland) and many more. The Imagination Quartet's China tour would not be possible without the assistance of: Adam Mickiewicz Institute, Plateaux Foundation, Wspieramkulture.pl. The Polish Embassy in Beijing is the honorary patron of the act.

Imagination Quartet is an expressive music project launched in 2009. Though it clearly relies on classic jazz esthetics, it does not let itself be trapped in music standards and common expectations.

Drawing extensively on improvised, experimental music, IQ plays energetic, passionate, direct jazz, which will also surprise the listener with humorous taunts. Just as the name of the band says, it is a music full of imagination, rich, unlimited, sitting where the line between harmony and frantic expression gets blurred. Imagination Quartet has already played over 70 concerts, among others the finals of Jazz po polsku Berlin (2013), Copenhagen Jazz Festival (2012), Dreszer Jazz Festival (2011), Krokus Jazz Festival (2010), Jazz Juniors (2010). In June 2010 they performed during the opening event of World Press Photo.

21st November 2011 Imagination Quartet released their debut album under the label of Anaconda Productions. The album, available on the Polish market and in online distribution at Amazon.com, iTunes, Spotify, summarizes the hitherto activity of the band. It includes 11 original compositions, explicitly basing on jazz esthetics, while retaining its special, unique character.

Lineup: Michał Sołtan (guitar), Damian Pińkowski (sax), Dariusz ¦witalski (bass), Maciej Dziedzic (drums).
