Scary middle class

Article's tools:

The Dramatyczny Theater in Warsaw is staging ”Plastic” by a contemporary German playwright Marius von Mayenburg, author of "Martyrs" and "Fire in the Head". The play directed by Grzegorz Chrapkiewicz and translated by Karolina Bikont will premiere on June 2 on the Halina Mikolajska stage.

There is an apparent order in the marriage of Michael and Ulrike. He is lost in his job as a doctor, she is an assistant to a scandalous artist. They have a teenage son for whom they have no time. Their home also needs more attention. So they employ Jessica, a cleaner. Her appearance triggers conflicts which verify family relations and declared values.

The world of modern middle class described in "Plastic" is scary and funny at the same time. Marius von Mayenburg makes sharp social diagnosis without sparing contemporary artists.

The cast includes the actors of the Dramatyczny Theater - Magdalena Smalara, Waldemar Barwinski and Slawomir Grzymkowski with guest appearance of Karolina Bacia and Kamil Szklany.
Music for the play was written by Piotr Labonarski, sets and costumes were designed by Aneta Suskiewicz.
