The Story of Jacob (Historia Jakuba) by a renown Polish playwright Tadeusz Slobodzianek will premiere March 17 on the Na Woli Stage of the Dramatyczny Theater in Warsaw.

The play was inspired by a real story of a priest and philosopher who finds out that he is not who he thinks he is. He tries to discover his true identity but it is hard in the contemporary world where one has to clearly define his background, faith or nationality. He begins to feel increasingly different and his attempts to integrate his alienation into a coherent completeness cause a number of unexpected events and adventures. Pathos intermingles with humor of the situation and a nearly-burlesque nature of the story.

The main role is played by Łukasz Lewandowski. The cast includes Małgorzata Rożniatowska, Izabela D±browska, Magda Smalara, Zbigniew Dziduch, Magda Czerwińska, Marta Król, Marcin Sztabiński and Otar Saralidze.

The Story of Jacob is directed by Ondrej Spiąak, who has worked with Slobodzianek for over 15 years. The writer-director duo have previously worked together on Our Class, Bear Called Wojtek, Merlin, Young Stalin and Prophet Ilya, which have won many awards been very popular with international theater audiences. All the plays are currently can be seen on the stages of the Dramatyczny Theater in Warsaw.
