Icoidi at Collegium Nobilium Theater
March 28, 2017
Article's tools:

Students of the Theater Academy in Warsaw are staging their diploma play – Icoidi , directed by Maja Kleczewska. The play is based on the films by Lars von Trier.

It is a story of a group of young people who cut off the world creating a small commune in the center of a city. They are fed up with the common, bourgeois mentality and try to escape from the false lifestyle imposed by social norms by pretending to be mentally handicapped.

The play is an uncompromised critique of the contemporary conformism. It casts light on things that we would most likely didn’t want to see. Can an idiot be a man of the future?

The script includes fragments of such von Trier’s films as “Dancer in the Dark”, “Breaking the Waves”, “The Element of Crime”, “the Idiots” and “Melancholia”.
