Leadership of governing party Law and Justice (PiS) shows signs of being fed up with continuing scandal surrounding the protege of Defense Minister Antoni Macierewicz, his 27-year old advisor Bartlomiej Misiewicz, suspending Misiewicz from the party and apparently forcing resignation from a recent corporate post. Party leadership set up a committee of insiders who will investigate how Misiewicz got a high-paying managerial position in state-owned arms firm PGZ despite a string of prior scandals. The daily Rzeczpospolita suggests that the job followed direct intervention from Macierewicz. The reaction of party leader Jaroslaw Kaczynski shows there will be no tolerance for continued scandal surrounding Misiewicz, one of committee members, MP Marek Suski commented for Rzeczpospolita. Despite the continued defense of Misiewicz by Defense Minister Macierewicz, party insiders believe that no major party conflict is likely. Macierewicz has no major allies within the party inner leadership, party insiders remind.
Opposition partyCivic Platform (PO) will file a motion for the dismissal of Macierewicz next week if he is not fired earlier, PO's deputy head Tomasz Siemoniak said.
