PiS prepares for congress

Jaroslaw Kaczynski
Ruling party Law and Justice (PiS) is mulling different personnel scenarios ahead of the party congress scheduled for July, Dziennik Gazeta Prawna daily writes citing PiS insiders.
The base-case scenario is that Beata Szydlo remains the PM and Jaroslaw Kaczynski continues to lead the party. Szydlo's approval ratings are good and there is no need to change anything, an insider commented.
However, some factions within PiS would like Kaczynski to become the PM.
The least likely scenario, partly denied by PM Szydlo herself, assumes Szydlo is replaced by deputy PM Mateusz Morawiecki and becomes Sejm Speaker, while Labor Minister Elzbieta Rafalska would become deputy PM for social affairs, with her competences encompassing also the Health Ministry.
