EC wants Poland to take part in refugee relocation

Poland will be subject to the EU law infringement procedure to be launched by the European Commission (EC) on Wednesday against countries refusing to take part in the refugee relocation program, daily Rzeczpospolita reports. Poland is facing a fine, but even four to five years may pass before it has to pay it, according to the newspaper.
In the meantime, it will feel the likely negative European Commission will open investigation into missing obligatory refugee quota by Poland, the Czech Republic and Hungary after they refused to participate in the EU's refugee allocation program, European migration commissioner Dimitris Awramopulos told the press conference.e political consequences of its decision, such as lack of solidarity from the EC or other EU member states, for example concerning the future EU budget, according to the paper.
Polish foreign minister Witold Waszczykowski denounces the EC's initiative as blackmail. Poland is not facing any trouble in relation to the European Commission's plan to launch an EU law infringement procedure against countries refusing to take part in the refugee relocation program, Waszczykowski told public radio PR3. "Forced relocation must not be connected with any European policy," he said.
