Poland has to find some PLN 9 billion savings in its 2018 budget in order to keep next year’s spending limit of PLN 801.7 billion, a Finance Ministry insider told the daily Dziennik Gazeta Prawna.
The spending rule allows Poland to spend PLN 35 billion more next year than this year, but the bulk of the sum will be consumed by fixed expenditure such as the Social Insurance Fund subsidy.
Higher spending is planned by the Defense Ministry (2% of GDP) and the National Health Fund, the daily reports. The traditional battle for money will be fought in July, when the Finance Ministry sends spending limits to all other ministries, the unnamed FinMin officer said.
