Polish Constitutional Tribunal's Tuesday ruling on unconstitutionality of the way members of the National Judiciary Council (KRS) are selected paves the way for the governing party Law and Justice (PiS) to broadly reform courts in line with its own project, all major Polish dailies write.
The proposed reform is already waiting for a vote in the parliament, Rzeczpospolita reminds.
PiS expects both bills reforming judiciary will be adopted by the end of July, PiS MP Bartlomiej Wroblewski told Dziennik Gazeta Prawna daily.
The planned changes have been igniting protests of the opposition, legal community and international organizations for months now and the general prosecutor and minister of justice Zbigniew Ziobro needed the verdict to push through the reform, Gazeta Wyborcza writes.
