More money for 500+

The Polish government has underestimated this year's spending on the child benefit program 500+ due to an overly pessimistic forecast of the number of childbirths and too low assumptions as to the number of first-child benefit claimants, the daily Dziennik Gazeta Prawna writes.
Some 400,000 births now expected by the Labor Ministry imply a 5% beat to the assumptions of the bill introducing the benefit, while the number of benefits for the first child is some 250,000 higher than assumed.
The Polish government now expects to spend PLN 24.5 billion on the program in 2017 vs. PLN 23.1 billion planned initially.
