Poland's population will shrink by over 15% in 30 years and by nearly 45% to the end of this century, the UN's most recent projection shows.
The populations of Poland, Bulgaria, Croatia, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldavia, Romania, Serbia and Ukraine will be among the fastest shrinking in the world.
The median age in Poland will rise to 45 in 2030 and 50 in 2050, the fifth highest in the EU, according to experts from the Structural Studies Institute (IBS).
