Pension savings at risk

The Polish Government should build its pension savings incentive program based on existing voluntary programs IKE and IKZE, instead of multiplying solutions, chief economist at the social insurance board ZUS Pawel Wojciechowski said in an interview for Dziennik Gazeta Prawna daily.
IKE and IKZE have their faults, which can be fixed, and can incorporate elements of the proposed employee pension plans, he suggested. The planned conversion of private pension funds OFE containing 75% of to-date pension savings into investment funds shifts the entire asset management risk on future pensioners, Wojciechowski also noted.
The 25% portion of OFE asset moved to the demographic reserve fund had best stay there rather than be passed under management of an investment institution, the economist opined.
