Deputy PM, Development and Finance Minister Mateusz Morawiecki wants to be given the right to decide what economic projects the government should pursue, taking advantage of what he sees as a strengthening of his position after the governing party congress, the daily Dziennik Gazeta Prawna writes citing own findings.
Morawiecki would be able to obstruct any costly bill at the level of the economic committee of the council of ministers (KERM), a government insider told the daily.
Several of Morawiecki's own brainchild projects are currently stuck due to objections within the government.
On the political level, Morawiecki is competing for clout with PM Beata Szydlo, herself allied with Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobro and NBP head Adam Glapinski.
