Brussels has been taken by surprise by Warsaw's judiciary blitzkrieg, daily Rzeczpospolita writes.
The European Commission (EC) has refrained from commenting on the matter so far and will present an assessment of rule of law in Poland on Wednesday.
Poland is potentially facing another infringement procedure, but it would concern only small parts of the new legislation, according to Rzeczpospolita.
The government in Warsaw may also find itself under pressure from Paris and Berlin, with threats of financial nature potentially emerging if less confrontational methods fail, according to the newspaper.
