El¿bieta Rafalska
The Polish government is considering giving one-off PLN 500 handouts to pensioners and disability benefit recipients whose benefits do not exceed gross PLN 1500, the daily Gazeta Wyborcza writes citing own findings.
The proposal comes from Labor Minister Elzbieta Rafalska, who would like the payment to be made in March 2018, along with the annual valorization.
The cost to the state would reach PLN 1.0-1.5 billion, the paper writes. Many government insiders and prominent members of the governing party Law and Justice (PiS) want the benefit put off to March 2019, the year of the next general election, an individual close to the government told the daily.
Finance Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, in turn, would rather allocate some budget means to offer PLN 10,000 rewards to people who put off retirement for two years, PLN 20,000 for four years.
