President Andrzej Duda will likely refrain from signing army general nominations on August 15 in what seems to be the latest episode of his long standing conflict with Defense Minister Antoni Macierewicz, daily Gazeta Wyborcza writes citing an unspecified source from the president's entourage.
Duda's negative decision would be a consequence of general Jaroslaw Kraszewski from the presidential National Security Bureau (BBN) recently being refused access to top secret information. Consequently, the Presidential Palace does not have full information about the general nominees and can therefore hardly be imagined to take the responsibility for them, Gazeta Wyborcza's source explains.
Kraszewski had already questioned the qualifications of some of the the defense ministry's general nominees in the past and has since become Macierewicz's number one enemy in the president's chancellery, the newspaper claims.
