The Polish government will lower retirement age as of October 1 as foreseen by the reform, with the European Commission's (EC) letter not delaying the process in any way, deputy labor minister Krzysztof Michalkiewicz said on Wednesday commenting on the EC's recent statement that introduction of different retirement age for men and women in Poland is a form of discrimination.
"EU member states have the right to introduce different retirement age [depending on sex]," he insisted.
