Poles are expected to import 950,000 of used cars this year vs. over a million in 2016, the daily Rzeczpospolita writes citing automotive market research institute Samar.
July registrations were down 1.8% year on year to 83.800, bringing the YTD number to 543.900, down an even deeper 5.7%.
Demand was affected by the planned, but eventually unrealized excise hike for the oldest cars.
A new impulse for the market may come with plans of altering excise declaration forms, requiring buyers to provide more details about the imported vehicle, Samar's Dariusz Balcerzyk said.
