Zbigniew Ziobro
The Polish government will direct specialized prosecutors to fighting VAT fraud crimes committed by organized groups, the daily Rzeczpospolita writes citing guidelines for law enforcement officers from Justice Minister and Attorney General Zbigniew Ziobro.
Officers will be able to intercept e-mails and telephone conversations, order suspension of business activity, block a transaction or a bank account. They should aim at pressing charges as soon as possible. Punishment can range from prison to confiscation of property or loss of company.
Poland lost PLN 200-250 billion on VAT fraud from 2008 to 2015, Ziobro wrote in the guidelines.
