The Polish government will spend a total of PLN 10.42 billion on coal sector restructuring from 2016 to 2020, according to the newest draft of the coal mining sector program to 2030 cited by the daily Dziennik Gazeta Prawna.
Closure of unprofitable mines, to be conducted to end-2018, will consume the bulk of the sum.
By 2020, Poland is supposed to pass a new law on coal mining sector functioning that will circumscribe the financing of additional tasks in the sector and spell out its target shape, the daily reports.
The law is also supposed to define quotas of coal imports and domestic production.
