Macron bypasses Poland and Hungary
August 24, 2017
Article's tools:

Emmanuel Macron
French president Emmanuel Macron is taking advantage of existing tensions within Visegrad group when visiting Central and Eastern European countries this week and he is deliberately omitting Poland and Hungary during the trip, major Polish dailies write.
The lack of eagerness to carry out talks with Poland and Hungary could signal that Macron does not include Poland in his plan for tightening the European integration, and will attempt to bypass Poland's resistance in the matters which are key for France's social policy. Macron, who will pay visits to Austria, Bulgaria, Romania, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, has started a diplomatic offensive.
In the best case scenario, the offensive is aimed at re-shaping the EU labor market in line with France's concept, while in the worst case scenario, it could lead up to ruining Poland's Three Seas Initiative. Macron will likely meet Polish and Hungarian officials soon, but the fact that he built his trip this way shows that he wants to be active and build alliances with different countries in the region, GlobSec think tank's expert Tomas Nagy said.
