Poland's social dialogue council, a vehicle for tri-lateral consultation between the government, trade unions and employers, is negatively assessed by the social partners after two years of its functioning, the daily Dziennik Gazeta Prawna reports.
The only issue upon which the council was able to achieve consensus was the introduction of a minimum hourly wage. No agreement was achieved on such crucial matters as retirement age reduction, minimum wage hike or changes to labor code.
The government treats the council instrumentally, often presenting ready solutions it intends to push through anyway, head of the OPZZ union Jan Guz said.
On the other hand, social partners are not taking advantage of their new rights in terms of submitting inquiries and motions.
