Households feel safe

Polish consumer sentiment as measured by stats office GUS achieved a record level in August, which proved to be the fourth month with a positive reading in the survey's entire history going back to 1997, the daily Rzeczpospolita reports.
Households are feeling safe thanks to the ease of finding employment and generating a higher income, while they are also receiving child support, employers' lobby Konfederacja Lewiatan economist Malgorzata Starczewska-Krzysztoszek commented.
Consumer optimism suggests spending will further accelerate from the annual rate of 4.7% in Q1. Households appear to be reducing the savings rate in order to increase spending, central bank's data suggest.
