Some 75% of pensioners born after 1975 could suffer from poverty after the reduction of the retirement age to 65 for men and 60 for women, the daily Gazeta Wyborcza writes citing a study by Warsaw University economists.
Leaving the retirement age at the current level of 67 would entail poverty for 50% of women pensioners and less than 50% of men pensioners. Retiring at 67, persons earning the average wage of ca. PLN 4,000 can count on a pension equivalent of 30% of their last salary, the study shows. Faster retirement leaves them with a minimum pension of PLN 1,000.
