Ruling party Law and Justice (PiS) presently has no plans to change local election law as it would not benefit from reducing the number of election rounds to one from two, daily Rzeczpospolita writes citing an unnamed PiS MP.
Meanwhile, opposition parties will not have their candidates running on a joint ticket in the next year's election, with political ambitions and electoral arithmetic getting in the way, according to the newspaper.
Largest opposition party Civic Platform (PO) is focusing on big cities, but has so far not chosen its candidates for mayors of Warsaw and Gdansk.
