KDPW - future is uncertain

The Polish government may be forced to hand over the running of central securities depository to a foreign entity as the national institution KDPW may be left without the required number of experienced managers to file for a license by the September 30 deadline, the dailies Parkiet and Rzeczpospolita alarm.
After the unexpected dismissal of KDPW CEO Iwona Sroka last week, two more management board members, Slawomir Panasiuk and Michal Stepniewski, are said to be mulling resignation.
KDPW will be ready to submit the license motion in time, supervisory board head and acting CEO Pawel Gorecki assured. At issue are some PLN 1.4 trillion worth of securities registered at KDPW. Last year's turnover on the spot market reached PLN 21 trillion.
