Opposition parties Civic Platform (PO) and Nowoczesna are far from launching any serious negotiations for joint lists in the 2018 municipal elections, sources in Nowoczesna tell the daily Gazeta Wyborcza.
The relationship between the two parties remains tense and fraught with bickering, with one Nowoczesna insider citing an independent move by PO to oust a cabinet minister that they feel ought to have been a joint effort. If the two parties decide to run under a common banner in the 2018 elections, it will be an alliance born of "reason, not love", the Nowoczesna parliamentary club head Katarzyna Lubnauer comments.
