Excise duty collection problems

The Polish government continues facing problems with excise duty collection, with income for the state budget rising by mere 4% year on year, and the end-year shortfall versus budget assumptions possibly reaching ca. PLN 1 billion, Rzeczpospolita writes.
The Finance Ministry claims, though, that Poland is on track to reducing excise duty gap and might see the effects of the government's efforts to tighten the tax collection "in the coming months."
An important part of these efforts will be the so-called tobacco package, assuming monitoring of tobacco crops, and imposing excise duty on two new product groups: e-cigarettes liquids and the so-called innovative products.
