Transactions under closer surveillance

The Polish government has made a step towards full surveillance of all financial transactions between companies by securing a cabinet stamp of approval on a draft bill creating a new ICT system for the clearing house, the dailies Puls Biznesu and Gazeta Wyborcza report.
The tool will enable tax officers to screen suspicious transactions in order to block potential fraud attempts. Head of the Polish tax administration KAS will be able to order a blockage of a bank account for 72 hours.
The law is expected to yield PLN 47 billion in budget savings over ten years.
The regulation poses a significant risk for honest companies conducting non-standard operations, employers lobby Konfederacja Lewiatan worries.
The PM Chancellery's legislative council has called the proposal unconstitutional.
