The Polish government should introduce a partial limit on Sunday trade as of January 1 2018, labor minister Elzbieta Rafalska told reporters in the lower house.
Ruling party Law and Justice (PiS)'s proposal to limit trade on the second and fourth Sunday of a month is a starting point, she said, adding that she is in favor of gradual implementation of the trade ban.
The government can complete work on a Sunday retail trade ban in time for a January 1, 2018 implementation, the chairperson of the Parliamentary sub-committee working on the bill, Janusz Sniadek, confirmed.
The sub-committee will meet with the citizen's group that authored the initial bill on October 9 and 10 before a sitting October 11.
