ECJ on Polish judiciary reform

Koen Lenaerts
Poland and other countries must observe international standards set by the Council of Europe and the Venice Commission when reforming the judiciary, president of the European Court of Justice Koen Lenaerts tells daily Dziennik Gazeta Prawna.
Judges must be independent of political and administrative authorities of EU member states, he says asked about the recent changes in the Polish judicial system.
At the same time, Lenaerts refrains from assessing the impact of these changes on independence of the Polish judiciary.
