Morawiecki grows stronger

Mateusz Morawiecki
Poland's deputy PM and Development and Finance Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has strengthened his position in the ruling camp on the nation's strong budget performance and, should a major cabinet reshuffle occur in November, might even be regarded as a potential candidate for a new prime minister, an anonymous source in the ruling party Law and Justice (PiS) tells the daily Dziennik Gazeta Prawna.
Morawiecki's candidacy would be considered only if PiS leader Jaroslaw Kaczynski renounced the PM seat, the source adds. The scenario is still viewed as not very likely due to the current approval ratings of the incumbent PM Beata Szydlo and the whole PiS.
