Poland's rising wages and soaring building materials costs may pose a threat to country's road construction program, daily Rzeczpospolita warns. Road authority GDDKiA has already signed two contracts with a price tag exceeding the assumed budget and the number of tenders with bids above the budget is growing.
Similar problems are faced by local authorities, with some bids in road tenders exceeding investor's assumptions by even 80%, construction lobby PZPB head Jan Stylinski said.
Additionally, road builders face logistic problems tied to modernization of railway lines and lack of carriages.
