Inflation speeding up

Poland saw its September inflation speed up to 2.2% year on year, 0.4% month on month due to increasing food, clothes, footwear and fuel prices, a somewhat surprising fact that points to the acceleration of the core inflation rate, Bank Pocztowy's chief economist Monika Kurtek comments for the daily Puls Biznesu.
The latest CPI structure data should not have taken Poland's MPC aback, Kurtek adds.
The policymakers suggested at the recent press conference that they might start considering a rate hike only when the inflation approximates 2.5%, and hence the scenario with no hikes in 2017 and low likelihood of hikes in 2018 remains in force, the expert explains.
