Poland's governing party Law and Justice (PiS) should announce its candidate for the Warsaw mayor seat in 2018 local elections in January, with deputy Justice Minister Patryk Jaki and Senate Speaker Stanislaw Karczewski considered most likely, the daily Rzeczpospolita found out.
PiS will build its campaign strategy to highlight the property restitution scandal of the incumbent Warsaw mayor, Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz. Opposition Civic Platform (PO) from which Gronkiewicz-Waltz hails has yet to suggest who its candidate might be, which considerably reduces the party's chances for the election success, the daily argues.
