The Centre for Aviation Research and Development of Wroclaw University of Science and Technology is to be developed in Lubin. The agreement was signed on October 19 by Professor Cezary Madryas, Rector of WUST and Lubin President Robert Raczynski.
The centre is going to be located in the area of the airfield of the Flying Club of Lubin Copper Mining Region. City President Robert Raczynski stressed that it will be a modern facility with considerable research potential, where innovative technologies can be developed.
The first beneficiaries of the cooperation project will be the students and researchers of the following faculties: Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Mechanical and Power Engineering. The tertiary institute’s plans involve delivery of classes but also opening laboratories with aerodynamic tunnels and launching technology workshops.
"The world’s biggest technical universities have their own airfields. We’ve been thinking about a place like this since the opening of the aviation engineering programme at our university", said Professor Zbigniew Gnutek, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical and Power Engineering.
First classes for students start as soon as at the beginning of next academic year.
