Idea Bank owned by a prominent WSE investor Leszek Czarnecki could soon change hands, the daily Parkiet writes front page citing unofficial information confirmed by two independent sources. Czarnecki might want to sell either 55% of Idea Bank controlled by his Getin Holding or just his own 15.8% stake, sources say.
Private equity funds are reportedly interested in buying the listed bank in a transaction brokered by Rotschild, but they may be discouraged by the seller's price expectations which supposedly exceed the current market price, the daily found out.
Potential buyers might also look at Idea Bank's main shareholder as the main risk factor due to the way he manages his businesses, the DM Citi Handlowy brokerage analyst Andrzej Powierza comments.
Selling the bank to a private equity fund could improve bank's efficiency, just like in the case of the debt collector GetBack sold by Czarnecki some time ago, Powierza says.
