Polish opposition parties have made very little progress towards any joint strategy for the 2018 municipal elections, insiders from a Tuesday meeting of opposition groupings suggested for the daily Rzeczpospolita.
The biggest opposition party Civic Platform (PO) will put up its own candidates for mayor seats and sees no sense in signing any cooperation declarations at this point, prominent PO politician Andrzej Halicki is reported to have said at the meeting.
By doing so, PO wants to force other opposition parties to back its nominees as they will inevitably enjoy relatively high support, an insider to the opposition talks tells the daily.
