Poland's ruling party Law and Justice (PiS) wants to introduce a number of changes to the local election code such as limiting the number of terms of office for local authorities heads to two as of 2018 election, according to a new bill submitted to the Sejm.
The bill also assumes controls at each stage of the local election process, video surveillance of the polling stations or setting up two election committees, one solely for vote counting. Moreover, PiS plans changes to electoral code to lift single-member constituencies in certain municipalities.
