I was saddened to hear yesterday that the first Polish soldier has died trying to bring freedom to Iraq. Whether we like it or not, Iraq has become the battleground for the struggle between freedom and those who would destroy it. It is vitally important that the Iraqis with our assistance prove the fallacy of the argument that the Muslim religion leaves no room for Democracy. Should Iraq succeed it truly would open up a new era for other oppressed peoples in the region and enhance our overall security. A failure would be equally disastrous for the Iraqis, the region and the world. Your soldier did not die in vain. Thank you so much.
