Thousands of scientific materials - books, journals, course books, articles, conference materials, films, recordings, and 3D models can be found in the online Atlas of Open Science Resources, which opens at Wroclaw University of Science and Technology.
AOSR is online information platform. It is being developed as part of the “Active Information Platform e-scienceplus.pl” at the Centre for Scientific and Technical Knowledge and Information of Wroclaw University of Science and Technology. The platform offers chiefly research results and scientific papers in various fields but also photographs or 3D scans of monuments of architecture.
AOSR is intended to promote research results and their wide use in science, business, and other areas of life. The collection is free of charge.
"Access to scientific resources broadens opportunities related to self-study, the improvement of knowledge and skills, as well as searching and analysing data. Sharing resources digitally also opens unlimited possibilities of reusing information in areas including innovative applications and services", says project manager Marzena Kordys.
AOSR’s resources include digitised exhibits from the Museum of Wroclaw University of Science and Technology such as technical devices or old laboratory instruments. The online Atlas will comprise both 360-degree photographs enabling the experience of texture and color of objects and 3D scans being their spatial models.
The project also involves adapting part of the resources to the needs of disabled users. Various materials are provided with text, phonetic transcription or information in the sign language. Adjusting the resources to the needs of blind or deaf people is the responsibility of the team of the Workroom for the Blind and Visually Impaired of Wroclaw University of Science and Technology.
The Internet platform is being jointly created by Wroclaw University of Science and Technology, the Academy of Physical Education in Wroclaw, the University of Environmental and Life Sciences in Wroclaw, the University of Medicine in Wroclaw, and the Institute of System Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw.
The project is financed with the resources of the European Union as part of the Operational Programme Digital Poland.
